Oct. 31 wedding date historic for
To most people, Oct. 31 symbolizes Halloween. To the Morfier-Stahl-Cymbola families, however, the date has quite a different significance. For on that date, three couples from the same family were married -- exactly 28 years apart from one another. To make it even more memorable, the three brides are grandmother, mother and daughter.
St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Toledo, provided the setting for the third of those ceremonies, the marriage of Abigail "Abbey" Teresa Stahl and Brad Alan Cymbola. The Rev. Gregory Hite and the Rev. Charles Singler co-officiated the 2 p.m. double ring ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009.
The bride is the daughter of Chip and Becky Stahl, Holland, Ohio. She is also the granddaughter of Charles and Edith Morfier, Bellevue. The date was selected by the bride not only because she wanted a fall wedding, but because she wanted to honor her parents and grandparents who were married on that date in 1981 and 1953 respectively.
Parents of the bridegroom are Michael and Lynda Cymbola, Liberty Center, Ohio.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a champagne vintage style dress designed with a sleeveless sweetheart neckline, beaded lace bodice and shoulder straps and covered buttons down the back. She carried a bouquet of white lilies, calla lilies and fall-colored mums, red roses and yellow button mums.
Not only were the three couples married on Oct. 31, 28 years apart, but the bride's mother and grandmother wore the same wedding gown and all three brides wore a string of pearls given to Mrs. Morfier by her mother. Just to keep the similarities going, Mrs. Morfier wore the same dress to her daughter's and granddaughter's weddings and two of the women in Mrs. Stahl's wedding had daughters in the Cymbola wedding.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was Leigh Stabe, Columbus. Bridesmaids included the groom's sister, Kristi Gyurasics, Liberty Center; Torie Smith, Grosse Point, Mich., and Ashley Eubank, South Toledo, both cousins of the bride; and Julie Maxfield, Los Angeles, and Jill McMullin, Oak Harbor.
Flower girls were Sophia Wygast and Lily Cochrane, both of Toledo.
Performing the duties of best man was Nate Zeiter, Whitehouse, Ohio. Groomsmen included his brother-in-law, Joe Gyurasics, Liberty Center; Joseph Stahl, Toledo, brother of the bride; Todd Spangler, Liberty Center, the groom's cousin; Greg Clapp, Liberty Center, and Luke Bodenbender, Columbus.
Ringbearer was Hunter Spangler, Liberty Center.
A reception was held at the Hilton Garden Inn, Perrysburg.
The bride is a graduate of Bowling Green State University where she earned a bachelor's degree in interpersonal communications. She is employed by The Andersons, Maumee.
The couple planned to take a week's honeymoon in Jamaica in December.
The groom earned his bachelor's degree in plastics engineering from Bowling Green State University. He is employed by Kamco, West Unity, Ohio.
The couple is residing in Liberty Center.
